Mom's Visit

Let me start by saying that I have the best mom a gal could ask for!  She spent half of her spring break here in NC with us.  Her visit was awesome!  She got here Saturday around lunch.  Robert had church band practice so I picked her up and we all met for lunch at Village Deli.  Next we went to Aldi and Wal-Mart for some grocery shopping.  We spent the evening watching 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.  Such a classic!

Sunday was church, and after nice Sunday afternoon naps we headed over to eat dinner with some friends.  Mom hit it off with Seth, our friends' super cute 2 year old.  He is hilar!  He loves to clean things including rocks and stuffed animals, and he has a great sense of humor.  We also played a round of Wits and Wagers.

Monday was supposed to be a quiet day around the house for Mom while Robert had six hours of classes and I was at work from 8-5, but both of Robert's classes randomly got cancelled last minute, so he was able to spend the day studying and hanging with mom.  They even brought lunch to me and we had a nice picnic together.  That night we FINALLY watch the second Hunger Games, and it was really good!

I took Tuesday and Wednesday off from work - so wonderful!  We went shopping, and I found a dress for Jim and Taylor's wedding, some black dress sandals, and some makeup.  We hit up Panera for lunch and took some to Robert on his lunch break.

Yesterday was pretty slow, but Mom and I enjoyed a walk together and lots of time chatting it up.  Overall, it was a great trip as expected.  Can't wait to head to Missouri in seven weeks!

A Pennsylvania Surprise

A few months ago Robert and I got to thinking about going to visit our PA relatives for Easter.  It was a great plan, until we realized how involved Robert would be in our church's Easter program.  (The program is going to be awesome by the way!)  So we decided on a weekend in March.  My dad was going in mid March, but Robert got scheduled to work all of that weekend, so we went the weekend before.  The Monday before we went to visit we let my Aunt Cathy know about our plan.  Other than that, it was a surprise to everyone besides my cousins.  We were so pumped for the surprise!

We left Friday after work.  It made for a very late night, but it was totally worth.  And, although Robert won't admit it, I know one of his favorite qualities of mine is my ability to be very silly on long road trips. :)  We rolled in around 1:30am.  We stayed with Aunt Cathy that night.  At 7:00am we walked over to Grandma and Grandpa's house and just knocked on the front door.  Grandpa opened the door and was shocked.  It was awesome!  He said, "Carol, we have some guests."  She still couldn't see us, so we rounded the corner and SURPRISE.  It was one one of the best feelings ever.  I've never really been a part of a huge surprise like that.  We just sat down and ate lunch and enjoyed catching up.

The weekend was super fun - games, tasty food, lots of chatting and laughing.  We came back exhausted and happy.
