February Happenings

Robert and I had a great Valentine's Day date.  We had to do VDay the weekend before since Robert works at a Florist and was obviously slammed on Valentine's day.  We went to Girasole for dinner, and it was delicious!  Robert also gave me gorgeous flowers and the Anne of Green Gables Triology.

Ready for my hot VDay date

Delicious chicken under a brick

This weekend Serina came for one last visit before moving to Missouri.  It was a great visit!  Highlights included dinner at Shuckers to celebrate the completion of my first week at my new job, grocery shopping, watching Planes Trains and Automobiles, mani/pedis while Robert had to work, games with the Vaughts, BBQ from Jack Stack that Serina brought with her from KC, church, and catching up,  It was a great weekend!

I started a new job on Monday, February 18.  I'm still at Blackboard, but I'm in a new position and a different department.  I'm now a client care representative for Connect which is Blackboard's alert notification system.  It's been a bit overwhelming so far - 30 days of training is pretty intense.  I've gone through waves of thinking, "This is a piece of cake," followed by, "I'm never going to be able to do all this."  Tell me this is normal????

My Life in Pictures

My gorgeous Valentine's Day flowers from my Valentine

We made Franklin at Build a Bear for our first Valentine's

A lovely day of mail: A Valentine's Day/Congrats on the new job card, a save the date for a lifelong friend's wedding, a Christmas card (haha), another congrats on the new job card, and my Valentine's Day present from Robert - The Anne of Green Gables Triology

The hat I crocheted for our little one year old neighbor.  It was my first time making a bow, and I think it turned out pretty well.

Mom sent us a card that was written on the back of a puzzle of SBU.  How cute!

I'm so jealous of the beautiful snow my family in MO got.  Two whole snow days!

Delicious homemade strawberry jam from our neighbor Allie

Super Bowl Sunday

We had a great time at our Super Bowl party on Sunday!  Let me rewind to the start of the day.  Robert and I joined the church choir last week and sang in the service for the first time on Sunday.  It was really good!  We practice each Wednesday night for about an hour and a half.  We're gearing up for Easter.  On normal weeks the choir sings backup for all of the songs, but for the month of March we will be doing one special song each week.  We've got some good songs lined up.  We're also excited because the praise team is putting out a new CD soon, and the choir gets to be part of it.  I believe we'll be recording in March.  How cool is that?  Our first album. hehe

We spent Sunday afternoon the way we always spend Sunday afternoons - I take a nap while Robert studies.  It's a pretty great deal, really.  I get to rest, and Robert is able to study without me crying out for attention and being bored.  Last week I slept for 3.5 hours.  He got a lot of studying done then. :)  This week I only slept for an hour.  Who else loves a good Sunday afternoon nap?

Studying hard!  He has a Greek vocab app on his iPhone, so he really is studying. :)

Sunday evening we had 11 people over to our apartment: Our neighbors Ben, Allie, and their daughter Jolie; their friends Adam and Amy and their kids Eden and Bennett; and Jared and Whitney who used to live in our complex before moving a few weeks ago.  Adam and Amy were in town from Ohio.  They were here to tour the campus as they plan to come to school year in the fall.  Amy actually graduated from SBU in 2006.  How cool is that?  Small world!  After the first quarter the moms left to tuck in their kids.  It was a fun night with great friends and tasty food - tacos, guacomole and chips, pinwheels, and football cookies.

What did you do for the Super Bowl?
